BS. I'm a nurse, no nurse in their right mind would try to insert a catheter without waking the patient...unless they want to get punched.

No if you go to the hospital with alcohol poisoning you could very well wake up to a catheter

Wet dream to night terror in .37th of a second. And more over, DAMN! Chick's a dude!!

  • Submitted by dunumber1 on Aug 31, 10 at 11:54pm

It could have been worse. You could have woken up with a boner to a male nurse doing a prostate exam.

Sometimes patients who are drugged, drunk or deathly I'll won't wake up. The 3 D's.

I've had to endure several attempts at a forced catheter before they just cut me open. I feel your pain, I'm so sorry.

  • Submitted by SarahSkinnyJeans on Aug 31, 10 at 2:54pm

That's like, the worst thing to wake up to in the world

  • Submitted by lostinadream on Aug 31, 10 at 9:17pm

Yeaahh, how the fuck do you make that mistake?? Catheters fucking hurt and unless they medically induce a coma or something you'll be awake when they do it so you don't jerk or kick them by being startled awake by the sharp little pain that comes with catheter insertion.

If I wasn't in the hospital with a friend who refuses to get a catheter this would be much less amusing.

actually, when I had to go in for surgery a few years ago (the only time I've been in the hospital, so it may be different depending on the circumstance) I was so drugged up that they did it when I was asleep. so waking up to them doing it is not improbable.

  • Submitted by babe975 on Sep 1, 10 at 10:14pm

@ soccerscout: do you realize you said "i will will not wake them up?" and you are (aka you're) a nurse?!?!?!

  • Submitted by  on Jul 5, 12 at 9:55am

This happened to a neighbor friend of mine. Except he was waking up from a coma.

@archer79 those who thumb up are girls that get a kick out of it like me!!\n@dunumber1 it was probably worst then prostate test...probably starting to get one as it was going in..that nurse must have some great hand techniques!!!\nLMFAO x10!!!

  • Submitted by katiegirl1980 on Jan 27, 12 at 7:26pm

And in the ER, you don't get the luxury of being in a drug induced coma before catheter insertion unless you put yourself there before arrival.

  • Submitted by katiegirl1980 on Jan 27, 12 at 7:24pm

Not BS. We do this all the time with our blackout drunk patients. Then usually place them in soft restraints to keep them from ripping it out when they finally come around.
