You're attracted to people with problems. Some people with problems become drug addicts. Other people with similar problems are attracted to the "helping professions"--counseling, mental health, clergy, and, yes, law enforcement.
Stop attending bad boy's parole officer meetings. Then you won't meet the cop. On the plus side - handcuffs!
