• I think OP means one of those skyride thingies (that go up a mountain or you'd find at an amusement park?) The cars are also called gondolas

• Friend did that in the Swiss alps and set off the smoke detector. The gondola car stopped in the middle of the pull, a guy spoke out of an intercom in French, cops were waiting when it got to the top, they reviewed the video from a pinhole camera they could not see, he was fined as.
