New Jersey was the first state to have highways. The jughandle concept was done because people thought that left turns at speeds greater than a horse walking was a collision risk. They were wrong. Think of NJ as a big mistake and bad examples.
I think the jug handles work. Other states you sit there while some dumass waits for an invitation to go left. Unless you're in Massachusetts - they think red lights are for pussies.
