another former y employee here-- i used to coach youth sports at 8 am on saturday mornings and would show up with the club stamps still on my hands and hung the F over hahaha
You can't work at the Y and ever be sober.
I work at one and every saturday the front desk staff is either still drunk or hungover. Thats how it goes haha.
Yeah I got the job, just had to sit through that 2 hour orientation with the director talking the whole time, followed by a 6 hour shift at the front desk. It was brutal. I'm off to work again today, still sporting a now greenish purple bruise. Too bad a black eye is hard to cover with make up!
Yep, sounds about right for the Y. I was just impressed that most people *made* it to orientation. Why do they schedule them for Saturday or Sunday at like 8 AM? They're just asking for it.
I have worked for the YMCA for over 8 years... I heard the best motto one time from one of my staff member... "You can't work at the Y without some sort of addiction"... As a Director, we're used to staff being hungover... at least you made it to work though!
