  • The original German version (1983) and English version (1984) were recorded by a German singer named Nena. The version you're thinking of is by Goldfinger. Now get off my lawn you lousy kids!

  • 8:46..."native speaking" is the correct term, just like how English is clearly your "native" language.

  • um. no, =210 its originally in german, by a german group it is great:)

  • The lyrics for "Du hast" are: Du Du hast Du hast mich Du hast mich gefragt Du hast mich gefragt Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nicht gesagt. Which means: You You hate You hate me You asked me You asked me You asked me and didn't answer. I loooove this song, really clever when u break it down.

  • If they were singing "99 Red Balloons" it would have been the English version, if you attempted to sing the German version than it would be "99 Luftballoons." Just clarifying.

  • 6:12 I love how you call Germans native.

Submitted by Anonymous on Dec 21, 09 at 8:46pm
  • the goldfinger version, as i think the person in this text was referring to, is based on the original german song, is sung mostly in english, and has a verse where he sings in the original german. therefore the person would have been singing the goldfinger version of the song entitled "99 red balloons," and clearly tried to include the german verse. i can't believe the idiocy of this conversation.

  • @4:37 you are far away from really getting the lyrics of "du hast".... it's a wordplay on "du hast" (you have) and "du hasst" (you hate) ...

  • Omg... Fuxk that song... Neunundzwanzig lift ballons!!! Wow... Our German teacher played it so many times.... And now it's going to be in my head for a week.. Thanks

  • Should have asked your German teacher to play some Rammstein Du Du hast Du hast mich

Submitted by Anonymous on Dec 21, 09 at 4:37pm
  • Neunundneunzig Luftballoons Hast du etwas Zeit fer mich?

Submitted by Anonymous on Dec 21, 09 at 2:02pm
  • 1:38 it's actually You you have you have me you have asked me you have asked me and I have said nothing seeing as the song is officially titled "Du hast" as opposed to "Du hasst"

Submitted by Anonymous on Dec 22, 09 at 4:38am
  • god ok if you need someone german to clarify this: 1. as someone said before, 99 Luftballons is the original version by Nena (popular german singer of the 80s) and because it was so popular she made the English version 2. Rammsteins Du Hast is a play on words because in german hast (have) and hasst (hate) sound the same n00bs

  • @8:59 sorry, I obviously meant 8:46.....

  • @8:59 you're a real dick... "native speaker" is anyone who speaks a language as their mothertongue, idiot, it has nothing to do with native americans... amazing how stupid some people are, though... *neunundneunzig luftballons, auf ihrem weg zum horizont... neunundneunzig jahre krieg... " so: learn some german, people... can't hurt!!!!

Submitted by Anonymous on Dec 21, 09 at 9:54pm
  • 4:10, it's 99 red balloons, not 29 red balloons

  • 4:38 actually those first couple lines can go either way until he has gefragt because hast can mean have or hate... That's the trick to the song.

Submitted by Anonymous on Dec 22, 09 at 10:59am
  • It's an English song, but there are parts in German lmao this ks great.

  • a couple years ago, i was really drunk and in austria. for about 10 minutes my friends and i kept singing this tune in our made up german gibberish to a couple of native speaking young ladies. they were not particularly amused, but rather quite annoyed. noinenoinzig luftballoons, kreicken oofta kielpenitza, iften beeften zonzegog, etc. also, before anyone can say it, im better than you cuz ive been to europe.
