HIPPA only prohibits you from sharing information that identifies a specific patient (name, birthdate, social security number,ect in addition to diagnosis or other health info) And nothing about that is identifiable to a specific person because I've had more than one patient ask me that as a labor and delivery nurse too.

My dad is a doctor & he always tells me funny stories about his patients without naming names. He's still practicing medicine in his office. No laws broken.
He didn't give names out to patient or to us, and we don't have his name/full phone #/business name/some form of ID anyway. So quit your bitchin' and enjoy the damned text!

confidentiality does not mean that doctors can never share stories about their jobs! and doing so does not make them a bad doctor. using names or referring to specific people is obviously different, but i don't see the problem here.

9:07, it could have been a nurse and it's not violating any confidentiality agreement bc this nurse or doctor didn't provide any of the patients personal information, including her name
couldn't you have told her that swallowing on a routine basis is a good way to develop her breathing skills and that it is a healthy habit to get into?
